A plaid made of jacquard fabric with the pattern «Cossack steppe». The drawings on the fabrics are stories, the stories of my travels, finds and discoveries — the unique flora and fauna of different regions. My travel diary began with drawings of plants, birds and insects of the places that I managed to visit. Now it is a full-fledged book «Botanical Atlas of the Polar Willow», the author’s botany of the textile artist, in which you can find plants of our country and other eastern and Western countries. The concept of the Polar Willow brand is the culture of everyday life on the road, which is reflected in the prints on the fabrics.
The jacquard fabric for the competition depicts Cossack steppes along the Khoper River, blooming fields with local flora, free horses that race through the early morning fog.
The print is hand-drawn with simple pencils, and then prepared for printing using graphic editors. The drawing is woven thanks to the manufacturer of tapestries in Russia. Size 160×220 cm 100% polyester Handmade tassels
Relevance:
Local identity is a hot topic on the agenda today. Thinking about flora and fauna as a localization code is my unique approach, which sounds like a leitmotif throughout my work. Not only due to national characteristics, culture, ornaments, we can talk about local identity, but also due to endemic nature. It is also necessary to highlight the relevance of jacquard fabrics with prints from Russian designers for home textiles — this is a free niche of our market. Decorators and interior designers are now actively searching for high-quality jacquard fabrics for upholstery, curtains, bedspreads with unique author’s prints.
