On January 30, 2026, Geim DevFest 2026, where I participated as a cosplayer.
The goal of my project is to create an authentic image of I-chan from Honkai Impact 3rd, to demonstrate his skills in crafts, and to show the value of his own craft and attention to details. My mission was also to be the first cosplayer of this character in Russia and to show that even less popular heroes deserve attention. I was fully responsible for the design and adaptation of the suit: a particularly difficult phase was the production of a wig from scratch — with a double frame, a sticker, and a manual assembly of cossels. As a result, I developed a suit and a wig with which I visited GameDevFest 2026 from the U.S.S.A., as an official cosplayer. The interaction with the university was an independent project, and the experience of participation helped me to develop creative and professional skills in the field of games and game design.
The character I copulated was I-chan or I-Hipperion from Honkai Impact 3rd.
She caught me with her character, her role in the history of the game and the company itself (I am considered the mascot of the game that started the giant Hoevers as he is now). As this character remained relatively low in popularity, I had to carry out many elements of the project on my own. It also meant that I would be the first I-chan cosplayer in Russia (as far as I know)!
The main difficulty was to create a wig: because of the two frameworks of «bibles» and tails, it had to be collected completely from scratch.
In a rather short time, I had to learn Vigmaikery and make my first frame wig.
To make it easier for me in the future to work with the splashes of hair, I had to go soft on the whole wig. Next up, take them off the wig base to work with separate strands. I decided not to touch the chick because it’s made up of a few layers — and this layer has become the base for the bottom.
When I was armed with tutorials and tips of acquaintances, I started building a carrot hat. After taking the measure, I made a synthepone hat and sewed it to the wig base. Next up, the hat sticker and start working with the cock. After cutting and giving shape to the lower layer, I glued an entire layer a little higher than it, so that the white synthepone on the final product could not be seen any further. Also, Hyperion has a bandana that I dissected and sewed into the database by hand.
While I was waiting for the third layer of glue to catch up (the bazaar should be tough, and since I didn’t have the chance to buy the right glue, I had to work with what I had), and I continued working on the cut. Light plastic is a good tool for making wigs, and it can make a reliable and very light design that I needed — even the hair itself weighed a lot, and with two big designs, there was a chance that the wig wouldn’t hold on to me at all if I did it wrong.
Then I would build up the strings on top and on the sides and stick the back of the wig. On the final layer are hook holders, which were used for the easy and simple further removal of the «bibles». That’s what a complete wig base without a frame looks like.
I’ve been making carcasses gradually, from wire with paint scotch to plastered plastic and cossies. All the hair left from the original wig went to the I-chan tails.
That’s what a complete wig looked like!
Besides the wig, I had to finish the rest of the cosplay. I sewed and glued a suit in a few places, and I made shoes from scratch because Hyperion’s canon shoes weren’t there at the time. I made it out of foamiran, and the decorative parts were removable so that the simple botilons would remain untouched.
Participation in GameDevFest has been a truly inspiring experience for me. I went through the interactive zones with interest, participated in the quests, and was able to try the games that students had created. This provided an opportunity to interact with colleagues in the field and to learn useful lessons for their own development in the game design. All the cosplayers gave the festival the atmosphere of the festival and helped the guests to feel the game spirit of the event.
Thank you for your attention!
