About the book: The Mayakovsky dramatist is no less famous than the Mayakovsky poet, and his plays have been on stage many times in his lifetime. It is impossible to imagine a revolutionary coup in the Mayerhold All-Wold Theatre without performances on the Bana, the Clope and others. And now these plays, despite what they were written at the beginning of the last century, turn out to be complex and ambiguous, thus a challenge to the directors, and the performances on them are real events. As illustrations, sketches of decorations, posters, cover of first editions, photographs, drawings of Mayakovsky and his contemporaries have been collected.
Clime Grechka, book designer: One of the key tasks was to remove Mayakovsky as the author of classical works from the boring pantheon of school writers, to look at it from a different angle, to bring it closer to the contemporarys, and to the context that often, in the process of reading (as well as preparing the author ' s works for the press), is erased, forgotten, reduced to footnotes and notes at the end of the block. Hence the decision to separate the graph and images without mixing them with the text, as well as the use of accents, headlines and other elements.

In general, visual categoricality is one of the key built-in elements of design. The variety of images (photos, drawings, posters) is combined by repeated elements (substrates, descriptions), forming another book inside the volume — a museum album that drowns the reader in the era. A separate task was the development of smogs with the title of the play and annotating information: the twists are made in a strong (black background) spirit.

They are a document of the era, so when we wrote this book, we were guided by the first editions to preserve the spirit of time. The collection included articles and speeches by Vladimir Mayakovsky on the theatre, his plays «Clop», «Banya», «Misteria Buff» and others. In our case, there is an existential story about human loneliness, despite the immense love of both the audience and the authorities.

Both series are combined with names with a clear geographical focus, format — a handy pocket book that meets the utilitarian requirements — a book for a schoolboy, a student, and a theatre minister (with whom I work and work on it). In the «Drama Globe» series, the design of the block and cover on one side corresponds to today’s day, highlights the relevance of classics and, on the other, is inspired by the age of an author. So the goal is not the reprint of the first editions, but a new look at them from today.
