Ural Slang — porcelain cups based on Bazhov’s tales
Ural Slang — porcelain cups Victoria Nurislamova X Antihcrupcost X Sysert Porcelain Factory
The project was created in the art residence Antihcrupcost at the Ural porcelain factory in Sysert. I decided to look deeper into the historical heritage of the area and found words that are very fresh for modern people. What does: «zdushny» (killjoy), «shatalo» (wandering), «goryun» (griever) or «laskobai» (tender) say to you?
These phrases were found in the famous «Ural Tales» by P. Bazhov, whose works largely reflect the way of life in Sysert.

Meanings of neologisms (of 19th century) mentioned in Bazhov’s Tales.
Zdushnyi — unattractive in appearance, unsightly Bespelyukha — a slob, a shyster. Laskobai — affectionately speaking Rudoboy — a worker who grinds ore. Vestovshchik — gossiper (male), one who likes to tell news. Smotnitsa — gossiper (female), one who likes to tell the news. Goryun — one who grieves. Shatalo — one who walks around with nothing to do.

To modernize the factory’s products, I created a new typography based on modules that express the industrial style of the Urals. Based on the same visual system, a new shape of a cup was designed.
Bazhov’s words were placed on porcelain cups. Thus, by choosing a certain item, the user can vividly and wittily characterize his personality.
