Tæp (Tap) — a well-thought UX
The lamp turns on and off by pressing directly on the object itself, the tactile sensations can be described as: smoothness, fluidity, fullness, rebound, warmth…
The sound click of turning on touches the user with a light nostalgia for childhood — echoes of Soviet design.
Visually, the lamp communicates exclusively joyful emotions brought by rounded cozy shapes, invigorating colors, playfulness of geometric patterns and pleasant soft light.
Naming reflects the unusual experience of interacting with the object and is derived from the Old English word «tæppian» or «tæppa», which meant «to strike gently» or «to touch gently».
Mood generator
We believe that recently consumer demand for design objects has shifted to items that provide not only a dry function and aesthetics, but also comunicates happiness.
The buyer of the lamp Tæp is looking for an unusual vivid item, which is also cozy, gives pleasant emotions and reduces stress.
The lamp is created using both crafts and modern technologies.
The internal structure of the lamp was specifically designed to solve the problem of turning it on by pressing on the object. Structure represents the inner beauty of the lamp — designer was inspired by the beauty of the aquilegia flower. The base is printed on a 3D printer.
The lamp shade is made of fused glass, using fusing and drop-out techniques. It consists of several layers of art glass, where the patterned layers are assembled from hundreds of elements cut out by hand.
The legs are made of steel using a high-precision CNC laser cutting machine and with the use of manual argon welding.
All the main materials in the composition of the lamp are durable, environmentally friendly and recyclable — glass, metal, PETG plastic
